Penne Arrabbiata is a pasta dish that comprises of penne pasta and Arrabbiata sauce - a traditional sauce made using three main ingredients: garlic, red peppers and tomatoes. They are cooked in olive oil, which makes the sauce spicy and delicious! After cooking it down for a few minutes, the pasta is added, along with salt, pepper and a sprinkle of parsley. PENNE ARRABBIATA: RECIPE


INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups penne

  • Water (for cooking)

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, sliced thinly

  • 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes

  • 2 cups canned tomatoes

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Parsley (for garnish)


RECIPE

  1. In a large pot, boil water. When the water comes to a rolling boil, add your pasta and salt.

  2. When cooked al dente, strain your pasta and reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water.

  3. Heat olive oil in a pan. When hot, add garlic and red pepper flakes. Stir until the garlic turns golden brown.

  4. Next, add your canned tomatoes along with the pasta water. Stir will to incorporate the garlic and red pepper.

  5. Cover to cook for 5-10 minutes.

  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Once the Arrabbiata has cooked down, add the pasta and mix well.

  8. Garnish with fresh parsley.

  9. Serve hot!
