I'm obsessed with the flavor of garlic, and I had some leftover pizza dough recently, so I decided to put together these adorable knots! This is a very creative way to use the dough instead of making even more pizza. The most fun part of this was preparing the knots and watching them prove before baking. They are then coated with garlic butter and baked to perfection.

The golden brown color on the knots is accentuated when the baked knots are tossed into a gorgeous garlic infused oil along with some herbs and Italian seasoning. You can add some roasted garlic to the dough to improve the flavor even more - even some cheese, for good measure! Long story short, these garlic knots are super easy to customize to your tastes, and I would 100% recommend it.

My recipe for these uses leftover pizza dough. My pizza dough is inspired by Buzzfeed Tasty's recipe. You can find it here: https://www.buzzfeed.com/marietelling/pizza-dough-recipe. You can also use store-bought pizza dough, but homemade is always better! Keep reading for the recipe for these adorable snacks.

GARLIC KNOTS: RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup leftover pizza dough

  • 2 tbsp cheese (optional)

  • Flour for dusting

  • 5 tbsp crushed garlic

  • 1 tbsp herbs - basil and oregano

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1/2 cup melted butter

RECIPE

  1. Sprinkle flour on your work surface.

  2. Knead your pizza dough for 2 minutes.

  3. Divide the dough into four parts and roll out each into 15 cm long strings.

  4. "Tie" your string into a knot - take one end of the string. Take the other and tuck in beneath the knot (think pretzels).

  5. Place your knots on a greased baking tray and let rise for 15 minutes.

  6. Heat melted butter and garlic and stir until aromatic (up to 30 seconds).

  7. Coat your knots with the garlic butter well. Sprinkle cheese, oregano and basil on top.

  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Broil for another 2 minutes to achieve a golden shade on your knots.

  9. Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic and herbs.

  10. Heat for 5 seconds, and add the knots. Coat completely.

  11. Serve hot!
